The House

YES WE CAN. We do not make accessories. We craft heirlooms.

01

Material

Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, hand-selected from the finest tanneries in Europe and Senegal. Every hide is unique — like the piece it will become.

02

Gesture

Saddle stitch, two needles, waxed linen thread. Every stitch is set by hand in a tradition two centuries old — no machines, no shortcuts.

03

Memory

Each piece carries the number of the artisan who crafted it, the date of its birth, and the promise that it will age beautifully with the one who carries it.

Founder & Artistic Director

The Founder

A heritage
hand-stitched
in leather.

Born between Dakar and Brooklyn, EDDE DIOP grew up steeped in the tales of his father, a tanner artisan, and the creative effervescence of New York's streets. From this dual culture was born a vision: that of a leather goods where the Senegalese patina meets New York rigor, where each piece tells of two worlds.

After a decade spent in the greatest Parisian and Milanese ateliers, he founded EDDE LEITHR STYLE in 2025, under the aegis of SMARTEST CAPITAL. The Maison settled in Brooklyn, in a glass-walled atelier where every visitor can see the hands at work, smell the leather, and hear the steady rhythm of the hammer on the thread.

“My pieces never come off an assembly line. They are born of a conversation between the skin, the tool, and time. That is the only definition of luxury I recognize.”

Craftsmanship · 6 Gestures

The time, the gesture,
the hand.

Six gestures, forty hours, a single piece. This is how an EDDE LEITHR STYLE object is born, from raw leather to the engraved number.

I

Selection

Each hide is chosen by hand from the vegetable-tanned tanneries of Tuscany, Senegal, and Saint-Louis. We refuse 7 out of 10 hides. Selection is done by eye, by touch, by smell — a leather must smell of wax and wood, never of chrome.

Partner tanneries: Walpier (Italy), Tanneries of Saint-Louis (Senegal), Weinheimer (Germany).

II

Pattern-making

The pattern is traced in pencil on kraft paper, then cut with a scalpel. A 2-millimeter error condemns the piece. Each model has its pattern, numbered, archived. Old patterns are kept at the atelier like manuscripts.

Over 200 patterns archived at the Brooklyn atelier.

III

Stitching

Saddle stitch, two needles, waxed linen thread sealed with beeswax. 7 stitches per centimeter, never a machine. A single bag pocket demands 4 hours of hand stitching. The sound of the thread running through the leather is the signature of our atelier.

8,400 stitches on average for a structured handbag.

IV

Patina

The piece is hand-dyed, dried for 72 hours, then polished with a cloth. The patina evolves with the one who wears it. This is the hallmark of full-grain leather: it does not age, it improves.

Vegetable dye in 5 coats, polished with natural beeswax.

V

Burnished edge

The edges of the leather are hand-dyed, smoothed with linen twine, then waxed. This finish takes 2 hours per edge. Distinctive of hand work, never reproduced by machine.

VI

Numbering

Each piece bears a unique number, hand-engraved on the back of the leather. The number corresponds to a certificate signed by the artisan, noting the leather, the color, the date of crafting, and the name of the artisan who made it.

Sequential numbering, lifetime traceability guaranteed.

“A machine reproduces. A hand interprets. It is in that interpretation that all the value resides.”

Senegalese leather heritage — dyeing atelier in Dakar
Heritage

From Dakar
to Brooklyn.

“My grandfather dyed leather with indigo and ochre, on the banks of the Senegal River. My father took it to Dakar. I took it across the Atlantic.”

— S.E EDDE DIOP

The Maison EDDE LEITHR STYLE was born of a triple loyalty: loyalty to the ancestral gestures learned in Senegal, loyalty to the rigor of the great European houses, and loyalty to the raw energy of Brooklyn — that borough where all the world's cultures end up crossing and intermingling.

Each year, EDDE DIOP returns to Saint-Louis for three months to select leathers tanned by traditional methods, work with local artisans, and in turn pass on the gestures he learned from his father. A portion of the Maison's revenue funds a leather goods school for young people in the region.

To buy an EDDE LEITHR STYLE piece is to support a human chain that runs from the Senegal River to the streets of Brooklyn — without intermediary, without delay, without compromise.

Made-to-Measure

Your piece,
your name,
your leather.

A made-to-measure order is a conversation. You come to the Brooklyn atelier, we talk for an hour, you touch the leathers, you choose the color, the type of stitching, the hardware, the monogram. Six to twelve weeks later, the piece is born before your eyes.

“Every made-to-measure piece is signed with your name and mine. It will outlive you.”
